How to Spend July 4th in San Luis Obispo and its Beaches

Gather the family for some fun in San Luis Obispo County. SLO County is a great spot to hit along the Pacific Coast Highway, especially during the 4th of July holiday because there is so much to do. Between the beaches, live music, insane firework show, and more, your family will have a great time while visiting SLO County.

San Luis Obispo July 4th

Paso Robles

The entire family can enjoy a firework show at Barney Schwartz Park. The event is free to attend and starts a 2 pm with family fun at the park, ending with a firework show that begins around 9:30 pm.

Cass Winery is holding a 4th of July bash from 2-7 pm on July 4. Tickets are free but must be reserved online to gain access to the winery. While there, you can enjoy a BBQ, patriotic games, photo ops, and a dunk take. They will also have live music, good food, and more.

Templeton 

The city of Templeton will have a free event that is being labeled the biggest event in Templeton for the year. Their fire department will hold a pancake breakfast at 7 am, followed by a parade along Crocker or Main Street. After the parade, Templeton Park will have live music, food trucks, a live auction, cold drinks, and more.

Atascadero 

Atascadero will hold their annual 4th of July music festival. The festival is held at Atascadero Lake Park and is free to attend from 4-8 pm. They offer VIP and VIP Plus areas for purchase if you want to be closer to the stage, and they remind everyone to bring a chair or blanket to relax on.

Cambria

If you’re near Cambria, don’t miss their firework show. From 11 am to 6 pm, Shamel Park will host a free event with live music, relay races, a pie-eating contest, raffles, kids’ games, food, and more family fun activities. The day will conclude with a firework show near the beach.

Cayucos 

Cayucos will hold their annual 4th of July celebration for the entire town. At 10 am, a parade will happen downtown, and for early risers, you can participate in a sand sculpture contest that starts at 4 am. They will have a street fair and food available, and the night will end with a firework show over Cayucos Pier.

Morro Bay

The second oldest fine art and fine craft show in the state of California will be held in Morro Bay. The 66th annual show has over 100 booths where you can see goods in an outdoor setting. The event will also have food and drinks available and is held from July 2 to July 4.

Avila Beach

Start your day right with a pancake breakfast with your dog in the garden of Avila Beach Community Center at 8:30 am. Afterwards, you and your pup can head to the Avila Beach Promenade for the annual Doggie Parade. All dogs must be registered to participate in the parade at 11 am.

Pismo Beach

Pismo Beach Pier will offer fun activities all day long, ending with a firework show right off the pier. You can get a front-row seat and some delicious food at restaurants along the pier like Sea Venture. The celebration starts at 9 am and goes until 9 pm.

Inn at the Pier will hold a Red, White, and Brew rooftop cookout on the 4th of July. The cookout starts at 4 pm and goes until 10 pm, where guests can enjoy a BBQ and drink specials all night. The Inn overlooks Pismo Beach Pier, and you’ll have the perfect spot for the 9 pm firework show.

Arroyo Grande 

Downtown Arroyo Grande will kick off their 2022 concert series with two concerts from the Village Band and Unfinished Business. The concert starts at 11 am on July 4 and goes until 4 pm.
