Top breweries in Santa Monica

There is only ONE brewery in Santa Monica, and that is Santa Monica Brew Works. Dude’s has pulled out, so if you want beer straight from the source, you will need to go to Brew Works.

Don’t despair though, there are loads of restaurants and bars offering up other local California craft beers from local breweries.

Santa Monica Brew Works

  • Address: 1920 Colorado Ave Suite c, Santa Monica, CA 90404
  • Website

If you’re a traveler who likes to eat and drink local, it doesn’t get more local than the Santa Monica Brew Works. Santa Monica’s first brewery invites you to taste what’s on tap and live the “beach brewed lifestyle.”

If you want to try some local craft offerings without feeling like you’ve walked into a room full of Subaru’s and mustaches, this is the place you want to seek out first.

Library Alehouse

  • Address: 2911 Main St, Santa Monica, CA 90405
  • Website

Beers, books, Battlestar Galactica. That’s the quote, right? If you prefer books to beets, you’ll be right at home. You don’t have to appreciate great literature to enter, but it does help to appreciate fine craft beers.

As you may expect, there’s a host of IPA’s and American pale ales to choose from. If that’s not your style, there are plenty of others to choose from with lots of local craft brews on tap.

The Daily Pint

  • Address: 2310 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90405
  • Website

Does the concept of endless choices excite you instead of paralyzing you? Then head to the promised land of the Daily Pint.

While you have 33 beers on tap, three on cask, and over 100 bottled options at all times, this still has a neighborhood dive feel.

However, don’t let that make you think it’s a less than stellar establishment. While you do have the classic big-screen TVs and pool tables, you’ve got a knowledgeable, friendly staff that will make you feel welcome!

Father’s Office

  • Address: 1018 Montana Ave, Santa Monica, CA 90403
  • Website

I don’t know about you, but the name Father’s Office screams craft beer spot. Just me? Maybe.

Regardless of how you feel about the name, Father’s Office has been around since 1953, and in this Santa Monica beer place, the mission has always been the same: create a casual space with top-notch beer selections (in quantity and quality).

Prices reflect the casual environment (though you have to remember it’s Santa Monica casual), and the most expensive beer on the main list will only cost you $12, though it’s the exception, not the rule. Notice the word main in main list.

If you’re a real beer aficionado who’s willing to run up a bit of tab, Father’s Office has a menu section they call “The Really Good Sh…” and it lives up to the name. If you care strongly about things like medal-winning, aging, and fermenting, you want to check out The Really Good Sh… on their online menu.

LA Draught

  • Address: 3021 Lincoln Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90405
  • Website

In a sports town, you might not think of beer when someone mentioned LA Draught. Craft beer aficionados and those who give the cold shoulder to professional sports will both be happy to hear that this is a classic bar and grill setup.

There is, however, “California’s best and most exclusive draught brews paired with classic pub grub.” If that doesn’t entice you, I don’t know what will.

JuneShine

  • Address: 2914 Main St, Santa Monica, CA 90405
  • Website

JuneShine is the outlier on this list in that they brew hard kombucha. Hey, we just said breweries; we didn’t say what they were brewing. You might be skeptical at first, but JuneShine is popular enough to have multiple locations for a reason.

If you just can’t be brought to consume more than a half pour of hard kombucha, JuneShine does offer a handful of beers, a few wines and non-alcoholic options.

The theme here is copper and wood, and lots of people enjoy it. The burgers are top-notch and innovative, and many beer choices are offered. Despite the name, they mainly offer ales, though you can get basically anything you want from their extensive tap list.
