San Diego during fall doesn’t necessarily mean cooler weather, but it does mean pumpkin patches galore and fall fun the entire family will enjoy. Throughout the county, you can find fun patches with a little more to offer than just pumpkins.

Beachside Fall Fest

Belmont Park will transform into the fall dreamland you’re looking for. Mr Jack O’ Lantern’s Pumpkin Patch will be front and center so everyone in the family can find their perfect pumpkin, but there will also be live music, a beer garden, special treats, and rides. Every Sunday in October, there is also free trick-or-treating. Fall fest starts on September 9, runs through October 31, and is open from 11 am to 10 pm.

Pumpkin Station

Take your kids to Pumpkin Station to search for the perfect pumpkin. The patch is ideal for families since it has kid rides, slides, bounce houses, and a petting zoo. There are numerous Pumpkin Station locations; some have hay wagon rides and farm animals. The patch opens on September 30 and goes until October 31.

PB Pumpkin Patch

PB Pumpkin Patch has been open since 1992 and has an incredible selection of perfect pumpkins for your kids. Besides pumpkins, you can pick up Indian corn, gourds, corn stalks, and a free pumpkin carving kit. The kids can also grab free apple cider and shaved ice when they’re visiting the farm. The patch opens on October 1 and stays open the entire month. You can visit Monday through Friday from 10 am to 10 pm, and at weekends from 8 am to 10 pm.

Bates Nut Farm

Bates Nut Farm has over 50 years of fall fun under its belt, making it a great patch to visit for family fun. The patch offers tractor hayrides, straw mazes, a petting zoo and pony rides. There is a wheelbarrow for transporting your pumpkins and other fall decors, plus they’re dog friendly. The patch opens on September 17 and goes until the end of October, from 9 am to 5 pm.

Mountain Valley Ranch Pumpkin

In the mountains of Ramona is a cute pumpkin patch that is perfect for finding a craving pumpkin. They have a giant corn maze that your kids can run some energy off in, corn cannons, a petting farm, and photo spots for fun fall photos. The patch opens on September 24 and stays open through the end of October. Visit between the hours of 9 am to 6 pm.

Oma’s Pumpkin Patch

Family fun is just ahead over at Oma’s Pumpkin Patch. There is an admission fee between $13-$21 depending on the age, and the admission includes the pumpkin patch, petting zoo, kid games, a sand pile, and a play area. You can buy tickets online, and the patch opens on September 27. Hours of operation are 10 am to 7 pm.

The Farm Stand West

Pumpkin Express

Starting October 8, the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum will transform into its annual Pumpkin Express Halloween Celebration. There will be themed trains, a pumpkin patch, and creepy ghosts and ghouls. Hours of departure are 10:30 am, 11:45 am, 1:30 pm, and 2:45 pm, with costs ranging from $5 to $28.

The Great Annual Pumpkin Festival

Kids and adults will have a phenomenal time at The Great Annual Pumpkin Festival. There is a 6-foot hay maze for adventuring, plus games and a patch where you can get your own pumpkin. You can view admission fees on their website, and it opens on October 1.
